• Tenda-Bake and Southern Biscuit products have been made by family owned and operated Midstate Mills since 1935.
• Midstate Mills is one of the few remaining regional baking companies that mills and blends all of its products in the South. Most of our competitors contract out their production to mills outside the Southeastern U.S.
• Midstate Mills’ corporate offices are located in a former movie theater in downtown Newton, N.C. Since the bottom floor is angled for movie viewing, the company uses only the top floors for offices.
• When G.D. Drum founded the predecessor to Midstate Mills in 1935, total production was 2,500 pounds of flour and cornmeal per day.
• Today, in a single hour, our plant mills and blends enough flour to make over 790,000 biscuits or 82,000 pound cakes. That’s about 750,000 pounds of flour each day.
• In only one hour our plant to mills and blends enough corn meal to make over 35,000 cornbread muffins or 72,000 single servings of grits.
