BISCUITS
1/4 cup shortening
2 cups Southern Biscuit® Self-Rising Flour*
1/2 to 3/4 cup milk
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
2. Cut shortening into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Blend in enough milk to make a soft dough.
4. Turn out onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead gently
for 30 seconds.
5. Roll out 1/2 inch thick.
6. Cut out biscuits with floured 2 inch biscuit cutter or sharp knife.
7. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
* If using Southern Biscuit® Plain Flour, add
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt.
