BASIC CORNBREAD

2 cups Tenda-Bake® Self-Rising Corn Meal

3/4 cup milk

2 eggs

1/2 cup shortening


1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Place shortening in a greased 8 inch iron skillet* and melt by leaving in hot oven for 5 minutes.

3. While shortening is melting, measure corn meal into a medium size mixing bowl.

4. In a small mixing bowl, combine egg and milk. Mix well.

5. Add liquid mixture to corn meal. Mix well.

6. Remove melted shortening from oven and add to the mix.

7. Mix well again and pour into skillet.

8. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.


*A shallow baking pan may be substituted.
